SINK #1: Welcome to Glasgow World Tour

Created by ComixTribe

Killer clowns in a blue van, shovel-wielding vigilantes, and the last bus you'd ever want to ride... You must be in Sinkhill. SINK is a series of offbeat, stand alone crime stories, all linked by one shared location: Sinkhill. A forgotten East End district of a warped funhouse mirror vision of Glasgow, Scotland, Sinkhill is a hive of crooks, deviants and killers, and ordinary folk unfortunate enough to live among them.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

$9K Reached! Next Stop... SINK #5!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 15, 2017 at 01:01:17 PM

Another milestone reached!

The blue van has now inched past $9000 in our funding on the SINK World Tour Kickstarter, meaning we have unlocked another stretch goal.

This lovely Mr. Dig postcard by CP Wilson III (THE STUFF OF LEGEND) will now be added to the Sinkhill Visitor's Kit pledge package.

With that milestone reached, the next big target on the horizon is $10,000.  If we reach that, then SINK becomes bigger and better... we'll be adding a fifth issue to the series!

The original plan would be that we wouldn't reveal anything about SINK #5 until we hit $10K, hence the little faded out teaser graphic above.  But I can't hold out on you any longer, I'm too excited about it.  Here's me to give you a little intro...

SINK #5: White Dog

When Emma Callaghan's beloved dog Snowy is stolen, her search for him takes her into the murkiest depths of Sinkhill's criminal underworld.  As she pulls at threads and draws the attention of dangerous people, lifelong Sinkhill resident Emma finds within herself a steely determination and an unshakeable moral core she didn't know she had... and which will be sorely tested.

I think SINK should be pretty great as a 4-issue miniseries, but it will be so much better as a 5-issue series.  This is the final chapter which puts a bow on everything and brings everything full circle, and I was so gutted to have to cut it.  Being able to add it back in would be amazing... and you can help make it possible!

TODAY'S GIVEAWAY WINNER: Keath L.!

Keep an eye out for more rewards and upgrades being introduced as our campaign enters its second half.

And don't forget to tune in to our Horror in Comics roundtable panel with Riley Rossmo and Brian Level on Kickstarter Live this Thursday!

Mark Your Calendars: Horror in Comics Panel This Thursday Night!
about 7 years ago – Wed, Feb 15, 2017 at 10:30:39 AM

One of the best things about Kickstarter campaigns is that they can have much of the energy and excitement of a comic book convention... without anyone having to leave the comforts of their own home.

However, one of my favorite things about conventions are great panels and talks by creators...

(Particularly the horror panels.)

But, thanks to the innovation that is Kickstarter Live, we thought... why don't we put on our own horror panel for our backers and stream it LIVE on Kickstarter this week!

Of course, a panel is only as good as it's guests, so I've invited two great artists with strong horror chops to join me on the vitual stage...

Riley Rossmo

Riley Rossmo is an acclaimed artist well known for his work within the horror genre in such titles as GREEN WAKE, BEDLAM, CURSE, REBEL BLOOD, CONSTANTINE: THE HELLBLAZER and more.  Most recently, he brought a touch of horror to BATMAN with art on the "Night of the Monster Men" story, and will next be seen tackling BATMAN/THE SHADOW.

 Brian Level

Brian Level is the artist of Image Comics series THE MANTLE, and has numerous credits working with DC Comics, Valiant, Black Mask and more.  He recently drew the Killer Croc stories in DC's SUICIDE SQUAD: MOST WANTED miniseries, and will next be seen as artist on MONSTERS UNLEASHED: INHUMANS.

Facilitating this awesome panel will be SINK backer and comics editor at HorrorTalk.com James Ferguson.

GET YOUR QUESTIONS IN!

The event will take place THURSDAY February 16 at 8PM EDT, streaming live on the SINK Kickstarter page.

A replay will be available for 48 hours after the event.

Click here to SUBSCRIBE an be notified when the event goes live.

Once again, there will be bonus comics given away to backers during the panel to attendees and those of you who SUBMIT A QUESTION before the event will also be eligible to win.

Our live broadcast Friday was awesome! Roland, James and Milan all attended live and won free graphic novels, and Jennifer T. also won for submitting a question before the event!

P.S. Cool on Kickstarter this month: Boston Metaphysical, the highly anticipated trade collection of the series by Madeleine Holly-Rosing.

We Passed $8K! Here's a SINK Tale...
about 7 years ago – Fri, Feb 10, 2017 at 09:10:54 PM

Hello there, Sinkers!

The week is off to a fine start, as we've now soared past $8000 in funding.  And so, as promised, here is a 1-page original SINK comic, with art from Jules Rivera. (This will also be included in the FULL VAN PDF, going to all $4+ backers.)

I've worked with Jules Rivera quite frequently as a colorist, most notably on OXYMORON: THE LOVELIEST NIGHTMARE.  But she is also a gifted illustrator, as can be seen in her original projects such as VALKYRIE SQUADRON and MISFORTUNE HIGH, and will be seen in the upcoming Free Comic Book Day BARBIE comic.

Sinkhill Public Baths, like much about SINK, is based somewhat in reality. Namely, it draws inspiration from Govanhill Public Baths. Not in terms of the regular discovery of corpses, thankfully, but in its old-school Edwardian era design.

Govanhill Baths has something of a storied history, being a popular swimming hole for many generations of Glaswegians before its controversial closure. There has been a long-running campaign for many years to try to get it reopened and renovated. The place is also reportedly haunted, having attracted its share of "paranormal investigators" in the past!

I hope to do more of these little one-page SINK Tales to further flesh out the world of Sinkhill with other artists in future.

That's us hit our first stretch goal milestone, but there are plenty more to come...

We're drawing ever closer to hitting those big stretch goals and getting extra issues added onto the SINK series, so let's keep pushing!

And we're just than $820 away from adding this awesome CP Wilson III (Stuff of Legend) postcard to EVERY "Sinkhill Visitor's Welcome Kit" ($29+)

TWO NEW $50.00+ in Bonus Comics WINNERS.

JT Rodgers and Joseph Wagner are our latest two winners!

If you're a SINK backer, you're eligible to win, but you DO need to put your name in the hat at:

 comixtribe.com/giveaway

As always, keep an eye on the Kickstarter for new bonus content being revealed.  We have plenty more up our sleeves.

Your pal,

John Lees

P.S. Thanks for all of the great add-on suggestions. Tomorrow, we'll be adding a few new great ones!

{NEW!} SINK Series Subscription... AKA Multiple Digital Eargasms!
about 7 years ago – Thu, Feb 09, 2017 at 09:17:29 AM

Here we go!

Here's what I DON'T want from this campaign...

What I don't want is for you to come in, get a taste of SINK, and then go away, never to be heard from again.

Once you get in the van, it shouldn't be that easy to get out!

I want you to stick around for the entire ride, where I can keep on getting you quality content for the months ahead.

And that's why I've introduced an upgrade called the SINK Series Subscription.

Now, if you get the SINK #1 Digital Eargasm package you'll be getting a quality, Full Van PDF, all the bonus content, and you'll also be getting audio content like the soundtrack from Jamie Fairley, which is awesome, and a director's commentary and cool stuff like that.

But why just have one Digital Eargasm when you can have multiple Digital Eargasms?

Tantric Digital Eargasms!

And so, the Series Subscription is an upgrade exclusive to this campaign where, in the months ahead, every time we finish an issue of SINK,  we will send you, as a backer, a special advance package including a Full Van PDF of that issue with bonus content tied into that issue, plus again, an all-original soundtrack from Jamie Fairley that accompanies that issue, plus a director's commentary of that issue.

And if you already have the Welcome Kit and want the all-access insiders pass to the whole series, you may want to upgrade your pledge to...

You can also add the digital subscription to ANY $15 or more pledge for just $24 more. Here's a look at our updated Add-On menu for SINK!

Today's Winner - Martin C. from the UK!

Another ComixTribe prize pack is on the way!

If you're a SINK backer at any level, you're eligible to win, but you DO need to register to win at:

 comixtribe.com/giveaway

And remember, you can always go back to the giveaway page and keep tweeting and sharing to earn even more entries into the giveaway to up your odds of winning.

I hope you guys will stick around, because like I say, I want you in the van with me for a good time to come!Your pal,

John Lees
